Mike
Matusow also referred to as Mike “The Mouth” is
one of the most well known televised players. Unlike others who specialize
in cash games, tournaments or even heads-up play, Mike has gained
a mass amount of attention for being vocal and sometimes quite eccentric
at the tables.
Originally from LA, he worked in his family business until the late 80’s when he began playing poker and became a rounder. The pinnacle point in his career was in 1999 when he won the $3,500 NL Holdem WSOP Event. It wasn’t until 2001 that Mike made huge headlines for making the final table in the World Series of Poker main event, followed up with a bracelet in the 2002 Omaha 8 or better event. Throughout the years he has been one of the most criticized players in the poker circuit and while many people have a love hate relationship with Mike, he is also an accomplished player with more than $6,500,000 in tournament winnings.
During the 2008 World Series of Poker, Mike did extremly well cashing in half a dozen events and making final table in yet another main event. Mike is one of the high profile players in "Poker After Dark" and just like Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonius, and Jennifer Harman, Mike is also part of the Full Tilt Poker team and is found playing online almost daily.
