Poker Player Bios - Phil Ivey "Tiger Woods of Poker"
Phil Ivey is best noted for his aggressiveness displayed at the tables and while he has been referred to as the “Tiger Woods of Poker” or to his friends as “"No Home Jerome" he is one of the best tournament players in his generation . His first bracelet was won in the Pot-Limit Omaha event in the 2000 WSOP knocking out both Phil Hellmuth and Amarillo Slim only to go on and win another three bracelets in the 2002 WSOP, in addition to a few Bellagio tournaments and a World Poker Open tournament in the same year.
He has proven that he has a skill unlike most players and in 2003 co-founded Full Tilt Poker. He is an active Team Full Tilt player and is seen quite often playing the ultra high stake tables on the network with other big names such as Mike " The Mouth" Matusow, Jennifer Harman and Patrik Antonius, in addition to some big games in Vegas.
During 2005 he was able to take down a few more titles such as a second place in the WSOP Circuit Event, and a 5th bracelet in the $5,000 PL Omaha tournament in addition to two major wins that year. He place first in the Monte Carlo Millions tournament and less than 24 hours later took down the "The FullTiltPoker.Net Invitational Live from Monte Carlo”, taking home $1.6 million from those two events alone. His most recent win was the 2008 WSOP H.O.R.S.E event where he cashed $159,840. Phil now resides in Las Vegas Nevada where he is married to his high school sweetheart.
