A man is said to have yelled to the crowd about his allegiance to the terrorist group, ISIS, at the Majestic Star Casino on July 7. The man is said to have set fire to a U.S. dollar bill, while sporting a prominent tattoo of an assault rifle. No one was harmed in the incident.
The man who yelled “ISIS” is identified as Larry D. Buchanan Jr., a 33-year old man from Gary, Indiana. Though it is in another state, Gary is one of Chicago‘s largest suburbs. Larry Buchanan was arrested for intimidation, disorderly conduct, and resisting law enforcement after the incident.
Frightened Gamblers at the Craps Table
Surveillance video shows that Larry Buchanan appeared in the Majestic Star Casino in Gary on July 7 at around 10 am. As he made his way towards the craps table, players and casino staff members began to flee. It is unknown if he began to call out the name of the terrorist group at this time, but his behavior was bizarre enough to cause a crowd of people to flee.
Witnesses said Mr. Buchanan told them he was “going to meet his God”.
Police were called to the scene. When they arrived, they claim that Larry Buchanan no longer wore his shirt and he had pulled down his pants to expose his posterior. He also was alleged to be lighting a dollar bill on fire.
AK-47 Tattoos and Religious Rants
The police affidavit said the man told them at this time he was ISIS, then added, “You (expletive) are about to see the strength of God.” He also pointed out the AK-47 assault rifle tattoo on his back, then said that the initials tattooed on his back meant “assassin”.
Despite the assertions, police apprehended Buchanan. He is still being detained in Lake County jail. In later interviews, Larry Buchanan said he was angry at the Majestic Star, because the casino had fired his brother recently. His anger was fueled further by his mother’s working conditions at the business, because she appears to work at the Majestic Star, too.
Threats on Facebook
Mr. Buchanan appears to have anger management issues. In a separate case, he is accused of making threats against his ex-wife’s grandmother through her Facebook account. The woman is reported to be a retired civilian employee for Indiana State Police.
In one Facebook post made on July 7, the day of the casino incident, someone using Buchanan’s account posted on the woman’s page, “Her life is over because of christ jesus not because of me. She followed her master instead of her families spirits from the Ancient God.”
In the Facebook case, Larry Buchanan is charged in that case with intimidation, a Level 6 felony in Indiana. Apparently, he accused his ex-spouse’s grandmother of being a member of the Illuminati, while also calling her a “snitch“.
The Illuminati is a favorite organization of criticism for conspiracy theorists, who believes the Illuminati are a secret cabal which controls governments around the globe and the world economy. In various accounts, the Illuminati control or are opposed to the Masons, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission, and other supposed purveyors of a one-world government.
ISIS References
While Buchanan’s behavior might seem pitiful to some and humorous to others, in 2016 it is serious business to yell “ISIS” to a crowd of people. With so many high-profile terrorist incidents happening in public places, referencing a terrorist group in a menacing fashion is certain to cause a reaction. Even if someone argues that yelling a word is not the same as suggesting you’re a member, it is, at the very least, akin to yelling “Fire” in a crowded theater.
