Inspired Gaming received a green light last week from the Nevada Gaming Commission to place virtual sports machines in gaming establishments across the state. The plan is to place virtual sports machines in Nevada sportsbook, starting immediately.
Virtual sports machines allow gamblers to bet on sporting events which are the casino equivalent of a video game simulation. As competitions play out, the players is able to wager on their outcome. Such gaming machines can operate 24 hours a day, which presents advantages for casinos and gamblers alike.
Approval came after the Nevada Gaming Commission’s test-run using William Hill sportsbooks in the state. Nevada becomes the first US state to have virtual gaming machines, though other nations around the globe have approved Inspired Gaming products. In most of those locations, VSMs have been a rousing success.
Inspired Gaming: The World Leader in Virtual Sports
Inspired Gaming COO Steven Rodgers said the Nevada Gaming Commission was “fantastic news for the company“. Rodgers also took the occasion to tout Inspired Gaming as “the world leader in Virtual Sports”. With successful gaming operations in China, Australia, and the United Kingdom, Rodgers’ assertion is not really in doubt.
Few other real competitors present themselves. That will not always be the case, if Inspired Gaming’s entry into the Nevada gambling industry is a success. In the next few months, officials, casino operators, and game designers will study the early results and make conclusions.
William Hill Field Trial
Approval by the NGC came after a successful field trial in select locations among the William Hills sportsbooks across the state. William Hill USA is the American division of the famous UK bookmaker business.
The sports betting operator has 108 gaming venues throughout the state of Nevada, though the Inspired Gaming test-run happened at select sites. The tests determined the games were fair, realistic, and entertaining to the gamblers.
How Virtual Sports Works
The last of those concerns never should have been doubted. People have been enjoying virtual sports on their video game consoles for a generation. Whether it was TecmoBowl, Madden Football, or the official MLB and NBA games, American video game enthusiasts have enjoyed the season mode on video games for a long time.
In those games, players would take control of one team or competitor in a major sport, playing its games or matches. The rest of the season would play out in a virtual manner, often off-screen. Players could watch the games play out in certain gaming worlds. Whatever the case, it was part of the entertainment that players could see a season or career play out in a virtual environment.
That is the essence of virtual sports machines from Inspired Gaming. Players wager on virtual sporting events in games like Rush Football, Rush Boxing, or Rush Basketball, then watch the results of those bets play out in a game simulation. When money is on the line, it hardly matters whether the games are real life or virtually represented — the outcome brings the same excitement.
Inspired Gaming’s Rush Sports
Inspired Gaming is taking few chances. They have licensed athletes to tout their games. Rush Boxing has a tie-in with Mike Tyson. Rush Basketball has Shaquille O’Neal as its endorser.
A variety of other games are featured by Inspired. The most successful worldwide if Rush Football, which features FIFA soccer players. Tennis, Horse Racing, and Auto Racing also have their won virtual sports machines. Eventually, Inspired Gaming will design Rush games for an American audience, including generic versions of American gridiron football and Major League Baseball. Buying licenses from those sports is not out of the question.
Advantages of Virtual Sports Machines
Virtual sports machines have several advantages over traditional sportsbook wagering. From a player’s perspective, virtual sporting events happen 24/7. The software allows for realistic, entertaining games to be generated any time through the day. Gamblers do not need to waiting for NFL or NBA games.
The sportsbook operator like the VSMs for the same reason. Also, a gaming machine is less of a burden on payroll. The sportsbook must pay upfront for the cost of the machine, as well as maintenance and repairs. The operator does not need to meet payroll, which makes the virtual sports machine a good long-term investment.
