Mohegan Sun Operates a Free Social Gaming Site, Play4Fun Network, in Partnership with Scientific Games
The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority has launched an online gambling website in the New Jersey market. Jennifer Ballester, a spokewoman for the tribal gaming authority, said that the site will launch as soon as approval comes from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement. The DGE is still testing the site, but is expected to complete its tests on the Online Mohegan Sun by late Wednesday or Thursday.
Because the site is still being tested, it is not live at the moment. A message urges players to check back each day. The tribal gaming authority which owns Mohegan Sun in Connecticut also manages the Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. Due to its link with Resorts Casino and its need to maintain a New Jersey gaming license, Mohegan Sun is able to launch an online casino in the Garden State.

According to Ms. Ballester, Resorts Casino is able to operate as many as 5 online gambling sites, under provisions set down by the state of New Jersey. Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority President Bobby Soper said that the launch of the site is going to transform his tribal authority into a premier online gaming purveyor.
Play4Fun Network: Free Site
Mohegan Sun has never accepted real money players for online gambling before, though the tribe launched a free-play site a couple of years ago for marketing purpose. The free site, called the Play4Fun Network, is a customized casino social network alongside Scientific Games, the lotto company which owns the American slots company, Bally Technologies.
Both Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods have free online casinos in order to collect a database of potential marketing resource of brick-and-mortar gamblers. Both Native American casinos likely hope those sites become real money operations, if Connecticut ever legalizes online gambling.

The Mohegan Sun addition should boost revenues for the Resorts Casino products significantly. Over the past 20+ years, Mohegan Sun has no doubt collected a solid database of North Jersey gamblers who prefer to go to the big Connecticut casinos. These players are likely to be a source of marketing. If Mohegan Sun can offer incentives based on frequent play in both their venues, then these players might be motivated to gamble at the new online casino.
