U.S. Players Can File for Full Tilt Bankrolls Starting September 15th

Full Tilt Remissions

Full Tilt Repayment Starts 9/15

The long road leading to repayment for Full Tilt Poker’s former customers from the United States appears to be closer than ever to reaching an end, as the company responsible for handling the impact has announced the starting date for players to file a claim.

That date: September 15th. Following that starting date, the Garden City Group will begin to contact players who are eligible to file a remissions petition to regain Full Tilt Poker funds.

If players are not directly contacted by Garden City Group but believe they are entitled to a refund, the instructions for submitting a petition will also be published on the group’s website.

Important filing deadline players should be aware of

One very important point that all former American Full Tilt customers need to be aware of is that the window for filing a remission petition is a relatively short one. As noted above, players will be able to start the process on September 15th. But the end date for GCG in terms of accepting applications is November 15th.

That means players have only two short months to act if they want to see their Full Tilt Poker bankrolls – frozen since the site was shut down following Black Friday – returned.

It’s not clear if there will be additional deadlines for players who have a disagreement with the GCG regarding their Full Tilt balance. It also hasn’t been made clear if players will be able to file for extensions or similar delays if their situation is uniquely complex.

Players still uncertain regarding several key specifics

One of the unknowns that could easily add a new layer of complexity to the entire process: The Garden City Group has yet to reveal how they plan to handle determining the value of points, tournament tickets and other promotional values that were stored in player’s Full Tilt Poker accounts.

While we do know that the GCG will be dealing with the cash balances players held in their accounts as of April 15th, 2013, there has been absolutely no word from the company on whether or not players will be compensated in any way for these aspects of their accounts. Will FTP points been given a value? If so, how will that value be determined? And what about tournament tickets or ring game tickets, which have a more obvious cash equivalent?

Many players will be anxiously awaiting clarifications on these points, but it appears possible that they may still be waiting even after the petition process begins.

It’s also unknown whether players from states with stricter laws regarding gambling – such as Washington or Utah – will face any additional hurdles getting their money returned.

Will players be able to contest GCG decisions?

Here we find yet another unanswered question. While determining a player balance seems like a relatively straightforward procedure, there are actually a number of variables that could lead players to come up with a different number than the Garden City Group.

In those cases, which appear to be somewhat inevitable, we still don’t know what avenues of appeal will be made available to those who have a legitimate disagreement with their balance as calculated by the GCG. And we don’t know whether the strict deadline described above will be extended or waived for individuals who feel like they’re not getting a fair deal.

As those details and others emerge, we will have complete coverage in our poker news section here.
